Super Bowl - what, when, where
The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL); it marks the closing of each year’s football season (which begins in the previous calendar year). An event that all of America (and a good portion of the rest of the world, actually) looks forward to, the Super Bowl is considered an unofficial national holiday.
The first ever Super Bowl was held on January 15, 1967 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles. Half a century later, the 51st edition of the Super Bowl, or Super Bowl LI as it’s officially called, is slated to take place on February 5, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. This will be the third time the championship game is being hosted by Texas, the other two games being in 1974 and 2004.
